Travel: Sagada -- Adventure: Day 2

  • Day 2: Whole Day
    • 8:00am ETD for Pongas Falls
Kuya Jake and Awingan picked us up from George Guest House, and went on our way to the drop-off point where we will start our journey.

We followed Awingan, and saw that we have to cross a bridge. It was kind of sturdy since it was made of metal, though you can notice the rust covering some parts of the bridge. As I walked on the bridge, I cannot help but look down; big rocks and rushing water greeted me. My heart thumped as we walked to the other side. The bridge has this tendency to rock a bit whenever another person walks on it. If you are afraid of heights, you have an idea what I mean. *sweat* *sweat*

The was going to Pongas Falls was a challenge, and I did not expect that I will mess up and get muddy and dirty. It was fun and exciting though to walk and hike -- to pass by the rice terraces, and once in a while stop to take some rest, and see the scenery and breathe the fresh air. It was fun to perspire a lot while moving along. It was great!

Sad to say, due to getting scared again, we did not reach the falls but our amazing guide took a good shot of it. So we just had the chance to see its beauty from afar. We were almost there but did not really went down to take the extra mile to reach it. That is why I made a promise to myself that once I get back to Sagada, I will surely do that extra mile.

After taking photos, we headed back. I washed myself at a nearby stream to just clean out some of mud from my rubber shoes.

I am really thankful to our tour guide for helping us walk at the narrow trails of the terraces. He was really helpful, sensitive to our needs during the tour and has the initiative to help us out. He would always remind us to call out his name, but he would tell us not to include "Kuya" whenever calling him.

Thank you too to the person who owned the house with the cute puppies and hogs. I apologize if I was not able to get his name. He even shared some green bananas to us. Awingan once asked me if I noticed something when we went there. I said that all of the people were nice. He said that all of the people there know each other so well. It was one reason that we got help and were able to use the wash area to wash up even though we were strangers.
